In every sense! A new year, a new journal!
So what better first entry than one filled with...
moans about peeling potatoes?! Oh My Gosh. I was standing there, at the sink, for about 15 minutes, peeling these pathetic blobs which dare to call themselves potatoes! Seriously, it took far too long, because they were all so small!
No in all seriousness, this blog was going to be a reflection on the past year, and my resolutions for the new one. Since I haven't yet written any down.
So highlights and lowlights of 2006...
Passing my driving test was a definite high-shame it only happened in December, but after 8 months of enduring the oddities of Chris, I was most happy to have my freedom. Now have Pendulum permanently booming out my windows.
Getting an interview at Cambridge-another amazing high, not least because I saw Stephen Hawking, but it was a great experience, met some wonderful people, and felt really lucky that I'd even got that far.
Getting through Round 1 of Youth Speaks. Not only did I choose a motion that I was entirely AGAINST, but hardly practiced it at all! Same with Jaya and Lois, and we
definitely looked the scruffiest, least prepared people there. Was quite humourous, earned us £150 for our Ball, and got a lovely trophy with a photo in the paper-CRINGE! Only downer is round 2 in february.
Finally competing in Target 2.0...after months and months of prep I was glad that A) I did offer to speak and B) we didn't look like idiots and also C) we didn't get through (I understood nothing and hated it wholeheartedly!)
Gold DofE-a forgotten highlight of 2006. Practice was NOT, I repeat NOT a highlight. However qualifying most certainly was-with moments ranging from "Shake that ass for me, i said shake that ass for me" to having the best, or most oddly equipped first aid sets ever including even eyepatches and condoms, having the best waterfight ever, enjoying the thrills of Miss Cross's NON air-conditioned car at 35 degrees C and climbing Lord Hereford's Knob. Oh and how could I forget the thrills of waking up to the sound of sheep every morning?!
Paris '06 - The funniest Economics trip ever, actually no, that was in June when Mrs Creagh took us to the wrong venue and felt highly embarrassed the entire day...but Paris was immense. We ate out in style, transported the hotel beds in lifts, got lost late at night in freezing conditions with two teachers who didn't have maps, jumped over ticket barriers-avec Mme Creagh!, missed the boat trip, fell asleep during the conference, watched Mr J fall asleep too, generally had a good laugh!
Sigur Ros-pretty much flung onto Fran, we turned up to Hammersmith Apollo not sure what to expect-especially as we had "ROW X" tickets. Both of us left gobsmacked. One of the most stunning gigs I've ever been to.
Placebo-OMG!Started with Infra Red-ended with 20 Years, BRIAN MOLKO! FRAN! BETH! ME! IN ONE ROOM! what more can I say?!
The Who-One of the most legendary bands of the 20th and 21st Century. Pimms, a warm summer evening, my father, one of my best friends and the most amicable gig crowd I've come across.
The Trend (now Narration)-meeting one of my favourite bands, going to their gigs, and finding out more about music production than I ever have before. Thank you Dan Holt.
Amazing people of 2006:
Fran-always there, shared so many moments with me, a year without her will surely be a sad one
Beth-a year WITH Beth! Much better than 2005, saw her tons more and as ever, amazing!
Leyla-someone I've only just begun to spend more time with-and by gum am I glad I do.
Davis-strangely not known her very long but defintiely one of my closest friends now. she's ace, and has made me smile so much this year
Katherine-like Leyla, this year has meant I've spent more time with Katherine than before, and although I knew her before this year, things like the Economics trip...lmao! have really meant I've got to know her much better
Avni-just amazing
Hannah Field-My driving buddy, and neighbour, and a great friend!
Weez-despite not talking much these days, we still have a great time when we do talk, and I love that!

Pippa-always there for me, she's the best sister anyone could ask for
Jon Bingham-a new friend this year although i've known him years. We're still carrying on our never ending conversation, and enjoy the occasional coffee and hot chocolate break!
John Hill-introduced to me by Pippa, the most sarcastic and funny guy I've met, he's really ace!
Toby-only been in my life for 2 and a half months, but he makes me smile so much, he's such a sweet and friendly person-you can't fail to like him!
Becky and Ed-got to know the two of them much better this year and they've become great friends at cadets
Stew-why? because from March until October I had a really great time being with him, and it was all so much fun.
